The Decugnano dei Barbi estate has always been concerned with the environmental problems. For this reason, the fungicide treatments are carried out with the greatest care in order to reduce the pesticide quantity at its minimum. Furthermore, insecticides are absolutely banned all together as are all antibotrytic treatments and any kind of chemical weeding. The latter has been replaced by mechanical and manual hoeing of the soil. Due to its strong environmental sensitivity the company has decided, where possible, to tie the vines after pruning by the use of the common osier, while the year’s new shoots are tied with broom thus excluding any other artificial and non-biodegradable material.
